Are you selling your soul to Satan?

This topic may seem to be a bit obscure ... or is it? There are many of us who are guilty of selling our soul (a piece at a time) although we may not even realize that we are doing it. The power of the spoken word is the mightiest weapon that has ever been known. The Word of God can create or destroy anything in this world.

Matthew 21:19-22, "And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw [it], they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this [which is done] to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. "

We are taught in Christianity to go out and spread the Word to all peoples of the land. We spread the Word by speaking it to others. We know that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Words spoken can help, hurt, instruct, comfort, convey learning and so on. The spoken word is a powerful instrument that can be used for good or evil.

We go out of our way as Christians to avoid evil talk. We do not even want to hear evil around us. We avoid evil because we know that Satan conveys all things that are evil in this world.

Job 9:24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, [and] who [is] he?

Satan waits for us to falter so that he may act on our weak moment in faith to our Father. Satan will not hesitate to come between you and your faith in God. Satan wants every soul he can take away from God's faithful servants.

Psalms 37:30-32, "The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. The law of his God [is] in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him."

Do you ever give Satan the invitation to enter your life? Have you ever used the words "I'd give anything to..." or "I'd kill for a ..." or how about "Go to hell!" (the last one you are actually working FOR Satan if you say it) Anything that is said to discourage someone's ideas or make them feel bad or discredited by any measure is an opening for Satan. Any time profanity is spoken or our Lord's name is taken in vain....it's an opening.

Deuteronomy 5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold [him] guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

We know that God hears all and knows all. You must understand that Satan is just as watchful on us. He is, and we are the only ones that can keep him in check by our actions and our words.

If you wish to look at this principal in a different light, think about this; Go out into the world and just listen to other people....what they say and how they speak. What is your reaction to people who cannot speak without swearing? How about people who berate or dominate others? Now compare them to a clean speaking Christian. Do you see how much higher regard you have for the person who does not swear? That's because swearing opens the door for Satan to begin working in that person. Notice that you came to this conclusion just by hearing words spoken.

Be watchful of what you say for your words can betray you!
